The 270 available spaces for this year's Catch-a-Trout Program were all booked in less than 48 hours. In fact, we expanded capacity to 320 and still had to turn many people away. It's great to have so much interest. We wish we had the fish, space, and time to get you all in!

2022 Catch-a-Trout Program

Get your kids hooked on fishing – bring them to the hatchery for some rainbow trout angling. Here are the details:
  • Pre-registration was required in order to keep numbers manageable.
  • There is no cost to attend.
  • Ages 12 and under may fish.
  • Equipment and bait (worms) are provided, but feel free to bring your own.
  • We will not be cleaning fish, but each angler may take up to 2 home for dinner.
  • Photos may be taken for use with GPNFH social media.
  • Park in the hatchery building parking lot.
  • Portable bathrooms will be on site.

The fishing sessions include:
  • Saturday, April 16:  10:00 – 12:00 and 1:00 – 3:00.
  • Sunday, April 17: 1:00 – 3:00.
  • Saturday, April 23:  10:00 – 12:00 and 1:00 – 3:00.
  • Sunday, April 24: 1:00 – 3:00.
  • Saturday, April 30:  10:00 – 12:00 and 1:00 – 3:00.
  • Sunday, May 1: 1:00 – 3:00.
We do not have the available dates to offer replacements for a rain-out.

Other items to consider bringing:
  • Portable chairs or a tarp/blanket to sit on
  • Warm clothing – there is little wind protection
  • Snacks/drinks

If you have people in your party with mobility issues you may drive out to the pond to drop them off and pick them up. Please return the vehicle to the hatchery parking lot during the event.
Participants may be photographed at the events and images may be used in official services such as publications, displays, and on the Internet. There will be a photo release form to sign.
